Hello my first post here having just found the fiat Forum. Im already a member of briskoda.net being a similar forum for briskly driven Skodas. I have a problem with my 53reg doblo 1.9JTD with only 20500 miles. The clutch has started slipping only slightly so far on full throttle at around 2500 - 3000 rpm in 2nd3rd4th gears.
The problem with HDI diesel is that the pressure in the fuel pump is phenomenal ( in the order of 30,000 PSI ) and the pump relies on the diesel for lubrication, if you dilute the fuel with petrol the pump wears out very quickly - this wear puts metal particles in the fuel system, which messes up the injectors
And do not get me started on Fiat maintenance, they never seem to be able to get the right parts, or have the appointment booked in properly. Heating does not work from cold, so blows freezing air
This morning, after a drive of +/- 10 minutes, there suddenly appeared two warning signals at the same time, mentioning “Start Stop is unavailable” & “Check Engine”. I carried out the work when the van had been unused and fuel pressure had gone down. I had air entering the system but the problem was not by the sender or tank it was fuel return and the plastic connector on top of the injectors, for the first time in 4 years it now displays a steady 53 mpg on the trip.

I would be wondering if the reason the old belt failed so catastrophically is that the power steering pump was/is on its way out hence the grinding problem you're having and stressed the old belt to the point of failure obviously you've now changed the belt but maybe not fixed the fault.

i am currently having exactly the same problem with a 1.3 multijet, i have fitted a fuel pressure regulator, pressure sensor, high pressure pump and a crank sensor and still the van will only start with easy start or on a jump. what i did notice is that i have no crank reading when im turning the engine over but it comes in when the van starts, ive done a current draw test on the starter motor

diesel engines high pressure pumps not suppose run dry.diesel fuel keep high pressure pump cool and lubricated.problem could be fuel pressure regulator in the fuel filter water separator housing.replace fuel filter see if it helps problem could be fuel pressure regulator in fuel filter housing, the fuel pressure regulator has a air bleed orifice that allows vent to the fuel tank.make sure fuel
Interesting situation today. My Doblo at the garage (non-Fiat - a general maintenance garage) and I asked to replace the fuel filter (as I do not like to open the Fuel tank. After some conslutation, the reply: apparently, no fuel filter can be ordered seperately; only as an assembly together with the fuel pump. Costs: Euro 650.
